Wayne James was born October 21, 1959 in Houston, Texas, and has lived in and about Houston his entire life, except during military service.

He went to Addicks Elementary, Katy and Cy-Fair High Schools, before joining the  U. S. Army in 1977 where he served as a combat engineer.  After working for the family business, at the age of 33, he returned to school.

While always pursuing his writing, he developed a great need to know more about the craft. He graduated an Associate of Arts at Alvin Community College, where he also took a certificate in computer science, before going on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Human Behavior at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

Currently runs the family business while finishing his graduate degree at U of H at CL, has started up his own web designing firm with his wife, and is still writing. As you can see, he likes to keep busy. He must have read somewhere, the more you know, the more you can write about.

Ernest Hemingway, Franz Kafka, Raymond Chandler, Philip Dick, Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, and Robert Heinlein are among his  favorite authors. He has written in several genres, including crime and literary fiction as well as poetry and nonfiction.

His fiction first appeared in Raconteur in 1995 and since has been published numerous times: in Hadrosaur Tales 5 and 7, in the University of Houston Clear Lake's award winning literary magazine, Bayousphere, and in the Write Gallery e-zine. His poetry first appeared in the small press magazine Lucidity in 1996 and has been published numerous times since. Samples of his fiction and poetry can currently be found at the Write Gallery
